Maristella Donato, PhD

Maristella is a post-doctoral scholar in our lab. She joined the lab as a visiting PhD student in 2021; she returned in 2023 as a postdoctoral scholar. Maristella’s previous research project investigated potential pharmacological therapies for calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD), giving her a strong background on ectopic calcification in the cardiovascular system. Currently, her work focuses on the involvement of dyslipidemia and diabetes in CAVD, using in vitro systems and an innovative animal model. Outside the lab, Maristella enjoys traveling, hiking, playing board games, and crocheting.
