Our visit to the Lutz Lab at the UW Department of Bioengineering gave students a behind‑the‑scenes look at how point‑of‑care diagnostic technologies are developed. The lab team welcomed us into their space, walked us through ongoing projects, and shared how their work aims to improve global health through accessible, rapid diagnostic tools. It was an inspiring afternoon filled with thoughtful questions and interesting conversations about translational research pathways.
Whether students were curious about global health innovation or simply wanted to see what day‑to‑day research in Bioengineering looks like, the tour offered a meaningful glimpse into the impact of bioengineering.
