{"id":701,"date":"2016-11-01T22:38:14","date_gmt":"2016-11-02T05:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/biongage\/?p=701"},"modified":"2018-01-30T10:17:16","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T18:17:16","slug":"recap-bioengage-symposium-imaging-technologies-for-precision-cancer-treatment","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/sites.bioe.uw.edu\/bioengage\/news\/recap-bioengage-symposium-imaging-technologies-for-precision-cancer-treatment\/","title":{"rendered":"Event Recap: BioEngage Symposium- Imaging Technologies for Precision Cancer Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BioEngage Noninvasive Therapy and Diagnosis sector held their first technical symposium on May 25, 2016 titled, \u201cImaging Tools Delivering on the Promise of Precision Cancer Treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nine companies and over a dozen UW labs participated, represented all imaging modalities.\u00a0 Industry representatives attended from both large companies such as Carl Zeiss, GE, Philips and Siemens as well as from smaller companies including Mirabilis Medical, Nova TheraNostics, Optovue and Tasso.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium encompassed technical talks, student poster presentations, panel discussions, and networking time to foster collaborations between UW and industry.\u00a0 The sessions focused on molecular and targeted contrast agents, integrated imaging and therapy, and assessing response to therapy.\u00a0 The panelists discussed how to maximize industry-academia partnerships and how to overcome barriers to clinical acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>The overall feedback from the event was very positive, with particular appreciation for the opportunity to network and learn about UW Bioengineering!<\/p>\n<p>The BioEngage team sincerely thanks all attendees who presented talks and posters, and who made the event a success.
